Make Your African Safari Dream Come True!
September 9 - 18, 2025
SOLD OUT!
Other dates may be available soon.
The crew is always happy for Wendy to return for another safari!
Before I tell you about this "bucket list" adventure, let's talk about who it's for...
Let's explore your sense of adventure....
...because I want to empower you to decide if this once in a lifetime adventure is for you! Many riders don't take the leap because they feel like a safari is out of their reach... then feel regret passing up the surreal beauty of this Ride Of Your Life!
Maybe this is you right now... I know that seeing elephants on horseback wasn't even on my radar for a long time. Perhaps you are:
You're in the right place. I'm going to tell you exactly how Horsing Around International™ will open up the opportunity for The Ride of Your Life!
Explore the Land of Great Migration!
The Masai Mara is part of the Serengeti-Mara ecosystem, home to the Great Migration. Often called the "seventh new wonder of the world", over 1 million wildebeest, half a million gazelles and hundreds of thousands of zebras migrate through the Masai Mara. Unbelievable!
See the Big Cats
in the Wild
The Masai Mara is the "home of the big cats". The lion population is flourishing. Watch cubs play with a terrapin or climb and jump on each other like kittens in their natural habitat. Listen to the roars almost every night as there are several prides that call the Masai Mara their home.
Enjoy Sustainable
Tourism
The land you traverse is owned by the Masai people, cattle graziers. Managed by private conservancies, a significant portion of your fees goes to the Masai for allowing tourism on their land. Benefits include anti-poaching management, healthcare programs and educational opportunities.
Ride the Finest Safari Horses
Carefully selected and trained for interaction with the wildlife, these safari horses are exceptional. Chosen for their temperament, bravery and riding comfort, they will carry you across the Masai Mara, thereby combining your love of horses with the magic of the savannah.
Experience the Magic of the Masai Mara
Amazing sightings may include lion, cheetah, leopard, elephant, hyenas & cape buffalo. The panoramic view offers up to 15 different species in a single glance. Fed by the rains from Lake Victoria, the Masai Mara is a rich and diverse ecosystem, also home to approximately 500 bird species.
Feel the Heartbeat of Africa
Sleep under canvas and experience true safari. The crew moves our mobile tented camp, like "Out of Africa". Sit by a campfire, sip cool drinks , dine on gourmet meals by candlelight, and listen to hippos splashing in the river. It's like you've traveled back in time with camp and crew.
But above all else...
Horsing Around International™
will make your "bucket list" dream come true
even for adventurers who are not seasoned travelers.
"I have lived 6 decades, and have traveled the world: Cambodia, Italy, Greece, Alaska, Galapagos, and more. But by far my favorite adventures, the most immersive and memorable, were my two horseback safaris with Safaris Unlimited and Wendy Murdoch.
Running with wildebeest, flushing out lions, I can't even begin to tell you of the thrill. We had picnics on the plains, rode through elephant cemeteries, and went with the sunrise. The Masai were our neighbors, the accommodations comfortable and plush and just rustic enough, the food delicious, the camaraderie and staff friendly and professional.
I am an average, somewhat timid, rider. Wendy rode with us, giving us tips when needed to feel confident as we galloped across the plains. I had so much fun the first time that I returned with my 17-year-old daughter 3 years later. I hope to go again before I get too old! If you are considering any safari, consider this one. It is the experience of a lifetime."
About Wendy Murdoch &
Horsing Around International, LLC
Wendy is a noted horsewoman, instructor, clinician, author and inventor. She is the creator of the SURE FOOT Equine Stability Program® and SURE FOOT Balance Pads. Wendy went on her first safari in 1998 and again in 1999 with Mary Robinson, founder of Horsing Around International, to the Okavango Delta, Botswana.
In 2008, Wendy and Mary teamed up again to travel to the Masai Mara, Kenya, with Safaris Unlimited. In the 80's Mary began organizing saddle safaris to Kenya with Safaris Unlimited and created Horsing Around International, which began 20 plus years of organizing saddle safaris in Africa.
Wendy met Mary at a Tellington-Jones Equine Awareness Clinic (TEAM) in Florida taught by Linda's sister, Robyn Hood, in 1996. Mary asked Wendy if she would teach on safari, to which Wendy replied, "yes?" When the faxes and emails started coming in, Wendy realized Mary was serious! Together they organized five saddle safaris before Mary retired from the travel business.
In 2008, (Wendy's third safari with Mary), Wendy and Mary traveled to Kenya where Wendy was introduced to Gordie Church, son of Tony, the founder of Safaris Unlimited. Gordie was taking over the business so that Tony could retire. After two more safaris, it was obvious that Mary's health issues were preventing her from riding. She decided that someone needed to take the reins for Horsing Around International and sold the business to Wendy in 2012.
Wendy, along with her life partner, Brad Schneider, has continued to bring adventurous horsemen and women to Kenya to experience the magic of the Masai Mara. To date, Wendy has conducted 12 safaris over the past 16 years. Wendy considers the Church's and Safari Unlimited crew as her "Kenyan family", many of whom have been with her on every safari since 2008. Wendy loves to share this amazing experience with anyone looking for The Ride of Your Life.
I look forward to sharing this amazing experience with you. Wendy Murdoch

Preserving Wildlife Together
A pivotal aspect of the safari experience is our commitment to conservation and community partnership.

By choosing our safari, guests are not just embarking on a personal adventure; they are actively participating in a sustainable model that benefits the environment and the local communities. Frequently Asked Questions
Riders need to be comfortable at a canter and able to gallop for short distances to escape danger from any approaching game. While the Guides do their very best to keep riders safe, game can occasionally pop up from tall grass or a thicket. Riders need to be capable of riding at faster paces for the safety of the group.
Yes! This is a horseback and vehicle safari therefore your travel partner will have an amazing experience getting close to the game, exploring while we are riding and sharing experiences around the campfire.
We do not make suggestions or recommendations on vaccinations. Please consult with your primary care physician to determine what you need. Please plan enough time so that you are ready to go when arriving in Nairobi.
Nairobi and the Masai Mara are at approximately 5500 ft, which significantly decreases the number of flying insects. You may be surprised how little “bug juice” you will need.
The amount of saddle time varies depending on the day. If we are moving camp it's about 6 hours in the saddle. We leave camp in the morning, and ride until lunch time. After about a 3-hour rest, we will saddle up again and ride into our new camp. On non-move days there’s a morning and evening ride. The evening ride is always a slower ride because it’s more difficult to respond should something happen.
Near the equator – Kenya straddles the Equator across East Africa. Altitude is between 5,000 – 6,000 feet and the difference in daylight between “summer” and “winter” is 15 minutes. Instead of our seasons they have “dry” and “rainy” season. September is typically dry season although the Masai Mara’s unique ecosystem has rains regularly due to the proximity of Lake Victoria.
Safaris Unlimited is always improving their fine herd of safari horses, gathered from around Africa. Therefore, they have a wide variety including a Quarter Horse, Appaloosa, Friesen Cross, Boerperd (South African), Warmbloods and Thoroughbreds.
Yes, we require riders to wear a helmet and boots when mounted. Please be sure you have a helmet that fits properly.
Yes, you need to purchase a Visa online before you can leave the United States. Please follow our instructions before purchasing your Visa as there are scammers appearing to be the official Kenyan Embassy. While you may get a Visa it could cost you 3x the price!

Yes, you are responsible for arriving in Nairobi in time for your safari. We recommend arriving at least 1 day early so that you have time to deal with any unforeseen situations such as flight cancellations. "the Best Vacation of My Life"
"I went on Safari with Wendy in 2015. It was the best vacation of my life. I was having confidence issues, but the people were wonderful. The horses were wonderful. Wendy told me if I could ride a horse across Africa, I could ride a horse anywhere and that turned out to be true, so I'd highly recommend it. You'll have a blast, it'll be the experience of a lifetime."
